The Iowa World Language Association (IWLA) President, Dr. Pam Wesely of the University of Iowa, will be presenting a workshop on the Iowa World Language Competencies on Friday, April 13 from 12:45-3:45 pm at Ankeny High School in Ankeny, Iowa. The Iowa World Language Competencies were written in collaboration with the IA Dept. of Ed, the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL), the IWLA, and world language teachers from around the state. The competencies are divided by level (1-5) and include ACTFL's proficiency levels and "I can" statements. This workshop will first present the background and vetting process. We will then explain how they should be read. We will then transition to implementation with some guided work time built in. This free workshop is open to administrators, curriculum directors, and especially world language teachers who are interested in implementing the Iowa World Language Competencies at their school. RSVP requested to Angela Worley - angela.worley@ankenyschool s.org
